Recently we had a customer with a SD card issue they purchased a number of SD CARDS and had a problem using them with the SparkFun Audio-Sound Breakout - WTV020SD… They had 1 micro SD card that worked, (a 2Gb) which was left over from a phone they had 5+ years ago. ‘New’ SD cards purchased from Ebay (1Gb) didn’t work -The issue was not the size of the card in this case, but the partition type.
We strongly recommended using the official SD Memory Card tool
to format SD/SDHC/SDXC Cards rather than using formatting tools provided with individual operating systems. In general, formatting tools provided with operating systems can format various storage media including SD/SDHC/SDXC Cards, but it may not be optimized for SD/SDHC/SDXC Cards and it may result in lower performance.
